Indian Gabbeh rugs

This Gabbeh rug was made by hand in India. Indian Gabbeh carpets are made of soft sheep wool, are comfortable on the feet and have heat insulating properties. Their designs are mostly simple and modern. They were inspired by nomadic tribes who incorporated very simple motifs from their environment (gardens, animals, plants) into their rugs. Indian Gabbeh rugs don't quite come close to the quality of a Persian Gabbeh, but they offer great value for money. Therefore, they make excellent hand-knotted carpets for beginners.

Bamboo silk

As the name suggests, bamboo silk is a natural fibre from bamboo plants. It is similar to pure silk in terms of softness and shine, but is much more affordable. Thanks to its properties as a natural product, bamboo silk is highly robust.

Loom knotted

Loom rugs are made on looms, on which a pile is made from loops. Instead of knots (see hand-knotted rugs), loops are woven, which later form the carpet pile. Compared to traditional hand knotting, loom carpets can be made with much less effort and are therefore more affordable. Because of their weave, these rugs are also limited to geometric or plain patterns.
