Village / Nomadic Rug
This rug belongs to the village and nomadic rugs of Iran, formerly Persia. This type of rug is hand-knotted in smaller towns and villages using age-old traditions. Nomads still knot Persian rugs outdoors under the open sky. These rugs are made without a pattern and entirely from memory. They are characterized by classic ornaments arranged in linear and geometric designs. Thanks to their cultural and traditional origins, these rugs have a unique character that embodies ancient Persia.
Patina Rug
This rug is a genuine patina Persian rug. Patina Persian rugs are a testament to high-quality craftsmanship and the finest natural materials, such as pure sheep’s wool and silk. A rug like this has undergone a natural aging process of usually at least 30 years, and often more than 50 years. Through careful restoration, it has been refinished to the highest renewed quality. The natural dyes and hand-knotted knots have not been altered, but have only been checked for strength and long-lasting durability. Variations in pile height were evened out during the skilled restoration process. This gives the surface its beautifully smooth finish once again. The wool was also washed, conditioned, and repolished to give the pre-owned Persian rug a beautiful new luster. The result is an affordable yet extremely high-quality rug that will bring you joy for decades with its patina. A rug like this, with its unique character and one-of-a-kind history, will continue to draw admiration for years to come.
Hand-spun wool
This rug is made from hand-spun sheep’s wool of the highest quality. Wool is still spun by hand, especially in Iran (formerly Persia), Afghanistan, and Pakistan, before the actual rug-knotting process begins. For centuries, wool has proven itself as a natural and extremely durable material. Among other things, it has dirt-repellent and heat-insulating properties. At the same time, wool is incomparably soft and has a natural sheen.
Hand-knotted
Traditionally hand-knotted rugs still represent the highest quality standard among all types of rugs today. Depending on the knotting technique, these rugs are extremely durable and can last for generations. The finer and tighter a rug is knotted, the more detailed the ornaments and patterns that can be displayed in the pile. At the same time, a very fine oriental rug requires significantly more manual work as well as a higher level of experience and skill from the weaver. Knot density therefore also serves as a key value factor for hand-knotted rugs. However, quality is not directly related to knot density. A more coarsely knotted rug can still be made in excellent quality.
Following our ethical principles, we at Uniq Rugs are declared supporters of the organization CARE & FAIR.
The aim is a joint action of carpet traders worldwide to give children from carpet weaver families in India and Pakistan the foundation for a socially protected growing up. This improves the situation for the whole family in the long term. A childhood fit for children for a life worth living - that is the mission.
