Kordi — also spelled Kord or Kurdi — is a collective term for rugs in Iran that are crafted by Kurdish weavers. Most originate from Kurdish groups in the Khorassan Province, though some come from the Turkmen-Afghan region. These rugs enjoy an excellent reputation overall. Their beautiful compositions and durability make them highly sought-after pieces.
Many Kurds have lived in Iran for centuries. Their culture is just as deeply rooted in rug weaving as that of many other communities in the Persian region. Their hand-knotted rugs are renowned for their exceptional beauty. Their quality also speaks for itself — long-lasting and resilient, they make excellent companions in high-traffic areas. A hallway or the entrance to a terrace, for example, would be ideal locations for these rugs.
