Bidjar is a very well-known rug provenance in Iran, so it is hardly surprising that rugs of this high-quality craftsmanship have inspired imitators. In the case of Indo Bidjar rugs, this took place in India. Indian weavers base their designs on the great originals from Iran, but they use fewer knots, resulting in coarser rugs that are perfectly suited for everyday use. Because producing these Oriental rugs is less labor-intensive than creating the originals, the price drops accordingly. This makes Indo Bidjar a clear recommendation for budget-conscious fans of Oriental design.
Indo Bidjar rugs, like their Iranian counterparts, are very often knotted in the Herati pattern. In the center of the rug, you will also find a central medallion, which, together with the border, provides the rug’s basic structure.
