Hand-knotted designer rugs

We combine modern, timeless design with the highest quality and most traditional method of carpet production, hand-knotting in the Orient. This way, you not only receive a stunning carpet but also a unique piece of ancient craftsmanship. Such a carpet does not just last a few years before the pile becomes worn and colorless; on the contrary, with proper care, it can even endure for generations. Natural materials like sheep wool, silk, and plant dyes are in a class of their own and cannot be compared to synthetic materials. With the Crusades of the 11th century, the first Oriental carpets made their way to the European continent. According to tradition, they were initially used only as wall decorations or table covers, presumably due to their high value and fine ornaments and embellishments. Since that time, they have become an integral part of our Western world and have established themselves as symbols of wealth and luxury. We now connect this centuries-old history with the modern design of our age, giving our designer carpets a storied soul. Exclusivity and timeless design: Our individually designed and hand-knotted designer carpets give your space a unique character. Depending on the type of carpet, these one-of-a-kind pieces have been designed by creators from Scandinavia (e.g., Sindhi carpets) and from Hamburg (Sadraa carpets). They particularly differ in their knotting techniques perfected over centuries, with a knot density that surpasses that of well-known designers. They are also made of 100% natural products, which is immediately evident to the eye and touch.

How are our designer rugs created?

Design

Our designers create designs with paper and pencil, just as you might imagine. For example, beautiful old oriental ornaments and patterns are combined with timeless geometric elements and brought into the modern world. There are also entirely new designs that have no recognizable connection to oriental origins. However, the inspiration remains the same: historically rich designs that have stood the test of time and are making a comeback today.

Digitalize

Once a design is found, it is digitized by our experts and made available in the highest level of detail for all subsequent steps. This is an important step in the communication for the selection of materials and knotting in the Orient.

Material selection

Natural materials are the most important component of the carpet. The design determines which material (sheep wool, cork wool, silk) the pile will be made from, what the warp under the pile should consist of, and which colors are suitable. Depending on the design or manufacturing method (tufting with pile or weaving as flat weave), various factors are taken into account in the decisions.

Manufacturing in the East

The preliminary work is done, and all the key details are set. Do we now know exactly how the carpet will look in detail? That is not the case, because now an experienced weaver brings their creativity and skill into the carpet after months of work. This gives the carpet its own unique character and soul. This is exactly what we particularly appreciate, and we are excited about a one-of-a-kind piece that will never exist again.
