Bathroom rugs

Surely many of you think that a regular rug doesn’t belong in the bathroom. It’s no coincidence that tiles are installed to ensure a high level of hygiene. However, even with a bathroom rug , this can be easily guaranteed. At the same time, it creates a living atmosphere that is interestingly accentuated by a vibrant Oriental rug.

We will show you how this works in our latest blog post about bathroom rugs.

Many good reasons for a bathroom rug

The bathroom is not just a place to wash up. It is also a place to feel comfortable in your own body. A pleasant living atmosphere that supports this goal can be significantly influenced by a bathroom rug.

Nomad Rugs radiate a lot of coziness and accentuate any room with their look. Imagine a rug in a warm color like dark red or beige, placed on simple white tiles – modern yet understated. Combined with beautiful wooden accessories, your bathroom will be right on trend and will also provide the desired feeling of comfort.

However, it’s not just the atmosphere that a bathroom rug can significantly shape. A rug also reduces the unpleasant cold on your feet when standing on cold tiles while brushing your teeth or getting ready for the day. Especially in the morning, it feels good when your feet don’t freeze right away.

How to find the perfect bathroom rug

When searching for the perfect rug, you should always ask yourself a few questions. Among others, these are: What shape is your bathroom? If it is more elongated, a runner can be a very good choice. However, if your bathroom is square, a round bathroom rug can also be an unusual choice that gives your bathroom a unique character. Whether square or round is always a matter of taste – trust your gut feeling. What’s important is that you feel good in your own home. If you are still unsure, we at Nain Trading are happy to assist you and advise you with our years of experience.

Besides the shape, the material from which the bathroom rug is made is of high importance. Natural fibers are particularly suitable. Because – and this is not known to everyone – a wool rug is dirt-repellent thanks to its high fat content. It is therefore particularly easy to clean and offers significantly higher hygiene than synthetic fibers used in industrially produced rugs. Additionally, natural wool can neutralize odors and also regulates the humidity in the bathroom, which is particularly important in that space.

If you have underfloor heating in your bathroom, you should definitely opt for hand-knotted bathroom rugs. Thanks to the hand-knotting, the knots allow air to circulate better, making your underfloor heating more effective. It is also important to choose a rug with a low pile height, as the higher the pile, the harder the heating has to work to achieve the same result. On the other hand, if you have a classic wall heater, you have more freedom in choosing the pile height. However, it should also be noted that a high pile is more prone to dirt, as fine dirt particles cling more easily than on low-pile rugs. For those who find it particularly important to easily clean the bathroom, Kilims are highly recommended. These flat-woven rugs are very durable and long-lasting. Due to their construction, they are also less sensitive to dirt. And if one side does happen to have stubborn stains, you can simply flip a Kilim over. The design remains the same.

What to Do and Not Do with Oriental Rugs in the Bathroom

What one should do

1. Use oriental rugs made of natural wool with good moisture resistance.
High-quality wool rugs like Berber rugs are known for their durability and natural ability to regulate moisture. They are excellent in well-ventilated bathrooms as they provide warmth and comfort underfoot while being sturdy enough for daily use.

2. Place the rug in strategic locations away from direct water exposure.
An ideal position is in front of the sink, next to a freestanding bathtub, or in a decorative area. Avoid placing the rug directly at the shower exit, as constant water contact can damage the colors and the structure of the fibers.

What should not be done

1. Do not use delicate carpets or materials in poorly ventilated rooms.
Bathrooms tend to have high humidity. Carpets with delicate fibers, such as pure silk, are prone to deformation, color loss, or unpleasant odors in such environments. These pieces are better suited for dry living areas.

2. Never lay a carpet without a non-slip underlay.
Even heavy carpets can slip on smooth bathroom floors, posing a safety risk. A non-slip underlay not only protects against accidents but also keeps the underside of the carpet from coming into direct contact with moisture.
